Binghui Guan-Elkin, L.Ac., MS, MPA
Binghui (pronounced: “Bing way”) Guan-Elkin was born in China into a family of
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners, and grew up
literally on the campus of a Traditional Chinese Medical College. Her mother both
taught and practiced for over 40 years. Her father is a master in
the art of QiGong. When
she was small, Binghui’s mother taught her and her siblings
acupuncture points and Tuina (Chinese acupressure
massage) for practical reasons: she needed the bodywork. Intrigued by the Traditional
Chinese healing arts since early age, Binghui took a certification
course in acupuncture at Guangzhou College of Traditional Chinese
Medicine in 1984.
Today, both her brother and sister are also practicing
Chinese Medicine in Canada and
Australia
respectively.
She graduated from Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York City
with a MS in acupuncture. She has also completed the
additional two year program in Traditional Chinese Herbal
Medicine. She is
licensed to practice Acupuncture in New York
State,
and nationally board certified in
Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine.
Binghui’s style of
acupuncture has been shaped by her ongoing study with noted masters
such as Dr. Richard Tan, Kiiko Matsumoto and Dr. Mark Seem. She has
trained in TCM acupuncture and herbology, Balanced Method, Japanese
style acupuncture, acupuncture trigger-point therapy, auricular
acupuncture and cosmetic acupuncture.
Binghui is experienced and
successful in pain management, myofascial release, stress and
related syndromes, eye disorders, infertility, and women’s health
issues. She is currently
teaching a class in Chinese Pediatric Acupressure to
parents.
Binghui is fluent in the
English language and 4 Chinese dialects: Cantonese, Mandarin,
Taishanese and the Wuhan dialect.
